WOF AUCKLAND CHECKS INCLUDE:
The following are important wof items (but not limited to) that your vehicle is required to pass a geddes wof onehunga that you may be able to check yourself before attempting to pass a WOF check. Need a mechanic in Onehunga, we can help you.
Auxilliary Drive belt — Power steering belt:
If cracked will likely fail.
Chassis Rust & Dents:
If you have dents or rust in your chassis, firewall, floor, door or window mullions, your vehicle will likely fail the NZTA WOF.
Battery:
Not secure, the tray is rusty, then will likely fail the WOF.
Brakes:
Foot & hand brakes to comply. The brake pedal should not sink and must stop the vehicle from 30 kilometers per hour in 7 meters. If they do not your vehicle will likely fail the WOF.
Dash lights:
Should all be working correctly (turn the key on — lights should show for a few seconds then go out). If the lights stay on or don´t come on at all the vehicle will likely fail.
Doors:
Must line up and close with ease.
Engine Mounts:
If badly cracked or broken will likely fail the WOF.
Exhausts:
If there are holes and/or leaks in any manifolds, pipes, mufflers or catalytic converters, or if the noise level is above 95 db or the exhaust does not exit the passenger cab area then the vehicle will likely fail the WOF.
Lights:
All the road lights (head lights, side lights, indicator lights, high and stop lights) should be working with headlights and fog lights in focus (correctly adjusted), the lenses are correct in colour. Geddes have the equipment to focus headlights. No white lights showing to the rear except the reversing lights. Any light WOF faults will likely fail the WOF.
Oil leaks:
If leaking onto the exhaust or excessive will likely fail the WOF.
Power Steering:
Belt must not be perished or cracked, pump rack or hoses must not be leaking, reservoir above min level or will likely fail the WOF.
Seats:
Sliding adjustable seats must lock in easily.
Seatbelts:
Any nicks, holes, cuts or frays, or the clip is faulty, will likely fail the WOF.
Spare Tyre:
Not secure will likely fail the WOF.
Shock Absorbers:
Leaking oil or damaged will likely fail the WOF.
Steering Rack boots:
Must not be cracked or torn.
Suspension Front & Rear:
Rubber bushes should not be cracked, ball joints should not be worn (play). Shock absorbers should not be leaking oil or will likely fail the WOF. Suspension arms joints and bushes should not have more than an allowable amount of movement.
Tyres:
Must have sufficient tread across the width of the tire, must not have cracks or bulges or will likely fail the WOF.
Wheel bearings:
Must not be noisy, have play or feel rough (need to be lubricated) or will likely fail the WOF.
Windscreen:
No loss of vision in the drivers critical vision area. Large cracks usually in excess of 10 to 50mm. Washer to operate.
At present we only have one mechanic licenced to NZTA to check vehicles for the WOF Onehunga. If you can leave your vehicle with us then we can check your vehicle for a WOF when it is convenient to us so can do a cheap WOF @ Onehunga.
After the WOF check we can either TXT or phone you to let you know your vehicle is ready for you and advise you of any WOF failures.
